What is Augmented Reality?

|
"Augmented reality (AR) is a live, direct or indirect, view of a physical, real-world environment whose elements are augmented (or supplemented) by computer-generated sensory input such as sound, video, graphics or GPS data." These augmented elements are know as "Auras" and can be as simple as a video and a link to a web page or as complex as a lifelike 3D animation.
At Dulwich College Suzhou, we have begun harnessing the benefits of Augmented Reality to enhance the learning environment. Last year, we employed the technology to showcase students' short films and podcasts at the Design and Technology Exhibition. The positive response from parents and students were very positive.
This year, look out for Augmented Reality display of students' work at the College!
Viewing the AR elements embedded in static 2D images at the College requires the free Aurasma app, which is available for Android and iOS devices.
